Food Security
Augustana and Camrose
There are supports, both on and off campus, that are here to help people in need. The following is a compiled list of programs available to students at Augustana.
ASA Food Hampers
This free supplementary non-perishable food hamper is meant to replace 25% to 35% of food costs for students so their money can be spent on other bills (rent, tuition, etc.). Food hampers are distributed once a month, and registration and applications are open to all current Augustana Students without a meal plan. Students MUST have a valid OneCard.
A typical hamper includes:
a) $20.00 grocery card for fresh produce (limited quantity);
b) choice of items from a food menu
Items received may differ in brand and flavour based on store availability and preferences.
ASA Office L1-010
Available by order monthly
Reciprocity Shelf
A place where people can leave donations and pick up food to take home is located near the stairs leading to the Convocation Centre (AU G). The reciprocity shelf allows people needing help finding dinner or tomorrow’s meals to drop by and pick up a few options. People can leave donations and pick up food to take home from the shelf.
Donate by:
a) drop off directly on the shelf;
b) drop off at the ASA Office or Augustana Chaplaincy.
Food donations must be non-perishable. Leftover or opened foods are unable to be accepted.
